Mountains of the Van Region

The Van region, located in Eastern Turkey, is a land of striking contrasts: deep blue lakes, volcanic peaks, green highlands, remote villages and dramatic mountain landscapes shaped by fire and ice.

This area is one of the most diverse outdoor destinations in Turkey — perfect for trekkers, skiers and explorers looking for a combination of wild nature, culture, history and adventure.

The mountains surrounding Lake Van offer excellent opportunities for both summer trekking and winter ski touring, with routes suitable for different levels of experience. Each peak has its own character and beauty.

Why the Van Region is special?

- Volcanic landscapes — dramatic cones, lava fields and crater lakes

- High altitudes — ideal for trekking preparation before Ararat

- Untouched wilderness — quiet trails, very few tourists

- Rich culture — Kurdish and Armenian heritage, ancient churches, castles, nomadic life

- Perfect for multi-activity programs — trekking + cultural touring

- Excellent snow in winter for ski touring

The combination of mountains, nature and culture makes Van one of the most exciting adventure destinations in Eastern Turkey.
