For many years, climbing Little Ararat (3.925 m) was prohibited due to its location within the border security zone. However, since 2024, access to the mountain has once again been officially reopened, but only from the Igdir side. This makes it a rare and unique opportunity to combine the ascent of both Little and Big Ararat (5.137 m) during one expedition.
Our 8-day program is designed for those who want to experience two volcanic giants of Eastern Anatolia: the elegant cone of Little Ararat and the snow-capped summit of Turkey’s highest mountain – Big Ararat.
The itinerary includes cultural exploration around Dogubayazit and comfortable acclimatization to ensure both safety and enjoyment.
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Dogubayazit
Pick-up from the airport in Igdir or Agri and drive to Dogubayazit. On the way, we can stop for photos at scenic points. Check-in and rest at the hotel.
In the evening, dinner at a local restaurant and short briefing about the upcoming trekking days.
Overnight at a hotel in Dogubayazit.

Day 3: Cultural Tour around Dogubayazit
A relaxing day before the ascent of Mount Ararat.
After breakfast, we visit the Ishak Pasha Palace, a masterpiece of Ottoman architecture from the 17th century. Next, we drive to the Durupinar Site, a natural, boat-shaped formation that many believe to be the footprint of the Noah’s Ark.
